Any campaign, even a Green one, requires money as well as time. Only U.S. citizens may contribute to political campaigns, according to federal law. Individuals are not permitted to donate more than $1,000 to a candidate in an election cycle (so put down those stock certificates). We don't expect to be able to compete with the corporate parties for donations, and we don't intend to try to. That's not the way Green campaigns work.
We're hoping for enough in donations to cover the costs of an administrative assistant and possibly a small office. The campaign doesn't expect to be running television commercials and engaging in massive direct-mail campaigns - bumper stickers, lapel pins, yard signs and the occasional billboard or radio spot are more our speed.
